PHT Project

1.2 MW, Jamaica

Year: 2011
Running Gear: A single high-head Francis turbine and synchronous generator, 1.2MW capacity.
Scope: Replacement of the existing control system

This hydroelectric station is operated by the electric utility on the island of Jamaica. In 2011, PHT was selected to replace the existing controls, installed in the mid-1980s, which were no longer feasible to support. Requirements for the new control system included a digital governor, and black-start / off-grid operation capability. PHT provided engineering and system integration design, supplied, installed and commissioned new controls equipment.

This was the first control system supplied for this customer, who later contracted with PHT to provide upgraded controls for another project.
